相关当局指出，这名年纪51岁的嫌犯，衣服和身上携带的2把菜刀都有血迹，他已经被警方拘捕。

美联社报导，嫌犯和受害者的姓名都没被公布。

民主党籍的纽约市市长亚当斯（Eric Adams）说道，3位纽约民众无缘无故遭攻击。

亚当斯还提到，嫌犯显然无家可归，几个月前曾在一起刑事案件中遭判刑，但没有透露更多细节。

受害民众遭袭击的时间前后相隔2个半小时，调查人员正努力查清嫌犯作案动机。
